Bohemian Switzerland National Park lies in the Děčín district, between Hřensko, Chřibská, and Brtníky. To the north and west it borders Germany’s Saxon Switzerland. The area belongs to the Děčín Highlands and the Ore Mountain range.
The rock towns, towers, arches, and ravines were carved by erosion of Cretaceous sea sediments that rose during the Quaternary. The star attraction is the Pravčická Arch — a national natural monument and Europe’s largest sandstone rock bridge. Right next to it stands the Sokolí hnízdo chateau.

Pravčická brána
Pravčická brána is the largest sandstone arch in Europe and the symbol of the entire region. The span of the arch measures nearly 27 metres.
Beneath it sits the romantic chateau Sokolí hnízdo (Falcon’s Nest). The rock also appeared in the film The Chronicles of Narnia.
Kamenice Gorges
The Kamenice River cuts through deep sandstone gorges. In the Tichá (Quiet) and Divoká (Wild) gorges you glide along in flat-bottomed boats, pushed by a boatman.
Between the sheer walls it stays cool even in summer. The boat ride is one of the park’s most popular experiences.
Šaunštejn
Perched on a sandstone pinnacle, the ruins of the robber knight’s castle Šaunštejn are reached by metal walkways and ladders.
From the top you get a 360° view over forests and rock formations. The climb is manageable even for children.
Clifftop lookouts
The landscape is a labyrinth of sandstone walls, towers and ravines. Marked trails lead to dozens of viewpoints high above the treetops.
The most famous is Gabriel’s Trail to Pravčická brána. Hikers from all over Europe come here for the scenery.
