About the course

The birthplace of Czech golf

Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně is where Czech golf began. The course was officially opened on 21 August 1905 by King Edward VII of England, who also became the club’s first founding member. Originally a 9-hole layout, it was expanded to the current 18 holes in 1923.

Set at the foot of the Slavkov Forest at an elevation of nearly 800 metres, the course is a classic example of the Scottish and Irish style of its era. In recognition of its history and quality, the club was granted the right to use the title “Royal” by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 — a rare honour in Czechia.

From Prague, it’s roughly 170 kilometres and about a two-hour drive. With a private driver, you can sit back and relax — your clubs travel in the car, and you can easily combine your round with a stroll along the spa colonnade in Mariánské Lázně.
